July Blog

It’s been hot! My brain cells have melted along with everyone else’s I suspect, nevertheless, we forge on.

I am happy to say I began my second play in the trilogy of The Blank Page during last month’s Dramatist Guild’s Pen’s Up and then put them Down, for the End of Play that ran the whole month of June. I did not finish the play – but I started it and that was a huge leap. Sometimes starting is tough. I can find many excuses not to, and making the commitment to writing every day in June was wonderful. I knew no matter what I was going to write. Not for 8 hours or an entire day, but some daily quality time dedicated to my play. I feel very good about the work I did, and of course will continue with The Blank Page Gets Filled.

The heat kind of zapped any creativity I had left, however I did do several self tapes. I’m getting pretty fast now. It doesn’t take me 3 hours anymore. I much prefer to audition live in the room, but you can’t have your way all the time even though every actor I know feels the same way.

This month should bring more tango and square dancing.
