The old refrain rings true ~ June is bustin out all over!

The performance reading of In An Instant at The Marjorie Dean Theatre was illuminating and instructive. The actors I cast were splendid, especially knowing what little time we all had and dealing with the steam pipe leak in the theatre that took out some technical elements. That did not diminish the work and the audience was really involved. I got some surprising feedback about character traits I didn’t realize were there, which is why this kind of collaboration with an audience is so necessary. I have work to do yet, to refine things, but I’m letting this script rest for a while.

I’m doing the ‘End of Play’ for the month of June that the Dramatists Guild hosts. It’s for playwrights to commit to writing a full length something, or a short something, or a musical something ~ it doesn’t matter as long as we write something every day in June. My goal is to start (and I already have) the second play in The Blank Page trilogy that I’m writing. It’s great to be back in touch with these characters ~ I’ve missed them.

I had a few auditions! Yippee! Nothing went farther than the audition, but heck, I got to audition.

I’m back to tango, which is wonderful, and I intend to keep getting back to where I left myself off and not let that happen again. Just the music is so enticing, that’s almost enough, but it’s nice to reconnect with my dance buddies on the tango floor.

It’s shaping up to be a great month. I can’t wait to report what happens.
