It’s been quite a month so far, following April.
May 4th I had the lovely pleasure of doing a role in Brad Makarowski’s beautiful play WHY US? at The Tank. It was 10 hours rehearsing with blocking that helped him as a writer see his play on it’s feet and was a great exercise for us actors to see what a few moves can do in a very short time. Kudos to all!
I finished a new play, STEEL TANGO, and am bringing in 10 pages next Monday to the Playground Experiment Monday Volumes. I can’t wait.
We had a reading rehearsal for ALL CATHERINE and have welcomed a new cast member, Paula Galloway. Right now I’m meeting with the actors once a month to just read the play, nothing more, and have them bring in anything they think they’d like to try. Also, just getting used to looking at each other since we have, unbelievably, this luxurious amount of time to work before September, we can pretend we’re the Moscow Art Players and relish a rehearsal process. Thanks to Lucy McMichael and Primary Stages for space.
My MFA class was part of an Asolo Theatre FSU reunion over the weekend and it was great to see old friends and meet some of the new MFA grads that will be coming into the fold soon. I saw a picture of my one person show on Lillian Russell that I hadn’t seen in awhile and it was fun!
Viennese Waltzing has been amazing and of course Tango is a source of great joy. I think Fox Trot is next on the dance card. I can’t wait!
Happy Spring!
