November 2021

Last month was fast and a little furious, but oh so much fun. We opened ‘Troll’ in the Short Play Festival at The Players Theatre in Greenwich Village. This is the second time the playwright Dave Malouf and I have teamed up, adding to this play my talented friend Brian Richardson as the Troll. We had a blast in rehearsals, fun in our zoom discussions from coast to coast and I am proud to report….drumroll please:

The audience’s vote for Best Play is…

Troll by David Malouf

“This monologue recounts the ‘Three Billy Goats Gruff’ from the Troll’s point of view. Troll is a beastly predator with a taste for fresh meat. As the tale progresses, Troll casts a reproachful and increasingly hungry eye on humanity, concluding with an invitation to have the audience over for dinner.”

I told Dave we need to try for a trifecta! We are hopeful that we will bring this play to more audiences in the future.

The Playground Experiment’s performance of Erin Moughon-Smith’s newest play ‘Gertrude’ also happened. Her riff on Hamlet’s mom, Gertrude is really quite something and I was fortunate enough to have been asked to play Gertrude. We just had a short rehearsal time before going live, well as live as you can be on zoom, but we delivered a performance for her to a select audience who seemed to come away with positive remarks. Good for her! I know Erin will be editing the script, and I am very much looking forward to seeing how it’s developing. And hope to be asked back to play Gertrude!

I have promised myself to make time to write this month. I have more than one play that has missed me and wants to rekindle our ties.

This is the perfect time of year to try to slow down a bit, if possible, so I am hopeful to truly carve out productive time with the words floating and jetting about in my head.

And to get back on the dance floor at Tango practicas, milongas and classes. I have a brand new pair of tango shoes too, so I have no excuse not to be dancing.

And sweet thoughts of pumpkin pie and Thanksgiving to finish the month. It should be a good one!

Happy Thanksgiving.
